Metallica rock out at Download

Metallica, The Prodigy and Black Sabbath have ramped up the rock at the 10th anniversary of the Download festival.

The legendary bands joined more than 100 other acts to entertain fans amid heavy rain and mud, with Metallica returning for the seventh time to headline the main stage.

During their two-hour performance, the US band performed their Black Album in its entirety, and also rocked out with hits including Master Of Puppets and Seek And Destroy, with fireworks and pyrotechnics closing their set.

Meanwhile, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath - who last week picked up the inspiration award at the Kerrang! Awards - closed the festival on Sunday.

More than 100,000 music fans descended on Donington Park in Leicestershire for the five-day festival, which also featured sets from Chase & Status, Soundgarden, Megadeth and Anthrax.

Special collaborations included Corey Taylor joining Steel Panther on stage for Death To All But Metal, and Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes joining You Me At Six for their final song Bite My Tongue.
