NewsJune, 13 Leanne Mitchell defends Voice trackThe Voice winner Leanne Mitchell has said she's feeling optimistic about her debut single - despite it being branded a flop. The singer landed a deal with music giant Universal after winning the BBC One singing contest but a download version of her debut single failed to dent the top 40 at the weekend. The 28-year-old told the Daily Star: "It's been a week and it hasn't had a chance to do anything yet." Leanne's single, a cover of Whitney Houston's Run To You, has been released as a download but doesn't hit the shelves until July 9. She said of writing songs for her first album: "I'm hoping we're going to get a good balance between my own songs and cover versions." BBC One boss Danny Cohen vowed on Tuesday that The Voice will return "even stronger" next year.
