Fancy dress parade at Bestival

Thousands of revellers have put on their fancy dress as the sun shines down on the Bestival music event.

Revellers dressed up in a myriad of costumes from giraffes and monkeys to earwigs and jellyfish for the event's famed fancy dress parade, which this year had the theme of wildlife.

The last and one of the quirkiest major UK music festivals of the season got into full swing on Friday with a headline set by Florence and the Machine.

Lead singer Florence Welch gave an energetic performance ending with popular favourite Dog Days Are Over.

She spoke of how she felt honoured to be headlining the event and thanked Bestival curator and Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank for his support from the start of the group's career.

Their set followed an atmospheric show by The xx who gave their only festival appearance of the year. Hotly-tipped Alt-J also attracted a large and enthusiastic crowd to their performance on one of the smaller stages.

More than 50,000 music lovers have headed to Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight for the four-day event headlined by New Order on Saturday and concluded by Stevie Wonder on Sunday.

As the sun shone down on the event, many people sheltered in shady spots in between the acts which included Sister Sledge and De La Soul on the main stage with Beardyman packing out the Big Top.

In contrast to June's Isle of Wight Festival which was hit by heavy rain, this weekend's event has been nicknamed "Dustival" by many.

The sell-out event is the first UK festival to be streamed live on YouTube.
