Led Zeppelin gig footage in cinemas

Led Zeppelin are to tour cinemas - as a film of the rock veterans' one-off reunion concert gets a movie release.

The Whole Lotta Love and Stairway To Heaven band performed the show in 2007 as a tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, their first headlining gig for 27 years.

Now footage from the two-hour show is to be released as a movie, Celebration Day, which will also be given a number of premieres around the world in October.

Around 18,000 fans saw the concert at London's O2 Arena in which the hard rock pioneers played 16 songs. But fans who missed out - with around 20 million applications originally made for the show - will be able to attend around 1,500 screens in 40 countries when it is given a theatrical release on October 17.

The concert featured tracks such as Kashmir, Rock And Roll and Dazed And Confused as tousle-haired frontman Robert Plant teamed up with guitarist Jimmy Page and bass player John Paul Jones once more.

Their late drummer John Bonham was replaced by his son Jason Bonham for the show.

The concert will also be released in DVD formats as well as an album on November 19.

Led Zeppelin have also been chosen as a recipient of the 2012 Kennedy Centre Honours, which will be given out at an annual gala on December 2 in Washington, DC.
