NewsNovember, 4 Robby Krieger mourns death of wife Lynn at 79
Robby Krieger, guitarist with The Doors, is grieving the loss of his wife, Lynn Krieger, who died last week at the age of 79. No cause of death has been given. The news was shared on Tuesday through the band's official Instagram account, where Krieger wrote that Lynn had passed away peacefully on the night of 29 October. He said he was sorry he could not tell people in person, and described more than 50 years of love and marriage with Lynn Ann Veres. The post was accompanied by a black-and-white photo of her standing next to a car. Their son, Waylon Krieger, stayed with his mother until the end, and the 80-year-old musician said he will miss her deeply. He also thanked fans for their thoughts and prayers. Lynn was the inspiration for Love Her Madly, which Krieger wrote in 1971. The couple married in 1972, and Waylon arrived a year later. Krieger has generally kept his private life out of the spotlight, but he dedicated his 2021 memoir, Set the Night on Fire: Living, Dying and Playing Guitar with the Doors, to his wife, writing that she was the only person he had ever met who lets him be himself, and that this is why he will always love her. Krieger and drummer John Densmore are the two remaining members of The Doors. Singer Jim Morrison died in 1971 at 27, and keyboardist Ray Manzarek died in 2013 at 74.
