Bieber likes being 'the underdog'

Justin Bieber says he won't be "just another teen heartthrob".

The 18-year-old told USA Today that a lot of people were now waiting for him to fail, but that he'll prove his sceptics wrong by continuing with his huge success.

"I don't want to be just another teen heartthrob. I know some people are waiting for me to fail, thinking, 'Oh, his time's up.' Well, I like being the underdog, and this tour is my chance to take things to the next level," Justin said of his forthcoming Believe tour.

"I've never put in more hours preparing, because I want (the tour) to be perfect. I want it to be an event."

The former You Tube sensation said he'd been taking inspiration from his idol Michael Jackson for his hotly-anticipated tour, which features Carly Rae Jepsen, Cody Simpson and The Wanted as warm-up acts and begins later this month.

"I've been watching (videos) of his concert tours over and over, he's my inspiration," Justin said. "When my team gets together, we're always asking, 'What would Michael do?'."
