NewsDecember, 13 Emeli Sande tops UK iTunes chartOlympic opener Emeli Sande has topped the UK iTunes chart with the best-selling album of the year. The singer-songwriter, who performed at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Games, got top spot with her debut Our Version Of Events. That was followed by Ed Sheeran's +, Lana Del Rey's Born To Die and Adele's 21, with Now That's What I Call Music! 82 the fifth highest seller. Emeli has seen her career soar since winning the Critics' Choice Award at this year's Brits and picking up a hat-trick of Mobo awards. Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know was the best-selling song on iTunes in the UK this year, followed by Carly Rae Jepson's Call Me Maybe and We Are Young by Fun. Emeli also featured on that chart - taking the final place in the top 10 with Next To Me. There was more success for Adele, whose album 21 was the best-selling album for US users of the site. The record, including hits Rolling In The Deep and Someone Like You, topped the same chart last year. The best-selling UK iPhone app was the WhatsApp Messenger which allows people to send instant messages on their smartphones.
