Spears set for Vegas residency?

Britney Spears is said to be close to sealing a deal to take up a residency in Las Vegas.

The pop princess is apparently in negotiations about headlining a nightly show, and gossip site TMZ reports that she could be raking in more than 100 million dollars a year if it all goes ahead.

A source said: "The deal is a go. There are several stipulations that could throw a monkey wrench in the deal, but it's basically done."

The Sin City news comes after a busy week for Britney, during which she revealed she had split from fiance Jason Trawick and announced that she would not be returning to US X Factor.

The Toxic singer, 31, started dating Jason in 2009 and they got engaged in December 2011, but said they had now decided to go their separate ways.

Britney said in a statement released to People: "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."

The news came shortly after the star announced she would not be returning to Simon Cowell's talent show, on which she was a judge during the last season.

The mum-of-two admitted that helping other hopefuls realise their dream of pop success made her miss taking to the stage herself.

"Watching [the contestants] all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most," she said.
