Tenors to sing for the Queen

Classical quartet The Tenors celebrated a new record deal by performing for the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

The Canadian group tied up a contract with Decca Records shortly before their latest royal engagement.

The singing stars, hugely popular in the US, have already performed for the Queen at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Windsor, as well as at a private tea in Windsor Castle.

The group's Victor Micallef said: "In such a special week as this, when our sovereign Her Majesty The Queen celebrates 60 years since her coronation, we are so thrilled to be in the UK and invited to Buckingham Palace after performing at Windsor Castle last year.

"To perform at the palace for the Royal Family this week is truly a highlight of our careers."

Together with bandmates Clifton Murray, Remigio Pereira and Fraser Walters, they have been known until now as The Canadian Tenors prior to signing their latest deal.

They have performed more than 500 shows since forming five years ago, and will play at the Duke of Edinburgh's Award World Fellowship 26th Anniversary Dinner.
