Radio 1 set for Glasgow Big Weekend

BBC Radio 1 is to stage its annual Big Weekend event in Glasgow, it has announced.

More than 60,000 fans will be able to attend the four-day event, in which the station will effectively decamp to the city.

The location was announced this morning (January 30) during Nick Grimshaw's breakfast show which was broadcast from Scotland.

Performers at the festival, centred around the weekend of May 24-25, will include Paolo Nutini and it will include a major event at Glasgow Green.

Ticket details will be announced in March.
