Kylie cried in front of Pharrell

Kylie Minogue has revealed that one of her new songs came about because she cried while working with Pharrell Williams.

The pop princess and Voice coach teamed up with the US singer-songwriter on her new album Kiss Me Once, and she admitted on Capital FM that when they got together she was having such a bad day that she "burst in tears".

As a result, Pharrell penned the track I Was Gonna Cancel for the star's record, her first album since 2010's Aphrodite.

Kylie, 45, said: "I had two days with him and did two songs, one of which is on my album and it's called I Was Gonna Cancel - because I was having the worst day.

"Everything was too much. So my second day going in I was literally talking to myself saying, 'Keep it together, this is a very important day, it's Pharrell.' And I burst into tears as soon as I got there.

"That's why he wrote I Was Gonna Cancel as I didn't feel like going, but had to."

The singer, speaking on the station's Breakfast Show, also said it was "a dream come true" to work with Pharrell, because she had been wanting to collaborate with the N.E.R.D star for some time.

Kiss Me Once is due out in March.
