NewsFebruary, 5 Rickitt: I hated my singing career![]() Adam Rickitt has revealed he didn't enjoy one minute of his musical career. The 35-year-old left his Coronation Street role as Nick Tilsley in 1999 to launch his pop career, but admitted he regrets it as he never felt happy. Adam had a Top Five single with I Breathe Again, and signed a six-album deal with Polydor, although he only released one album - Good Times - in 1999 and was later dropped by the label "It was the most f*****-up thing I could have done. I hated every single day of it, for 12 years," he told The Sun. "I just felt like I wasn't me. I didn't want to be the person who said, 'Oh no, I'm an artiste', because I didn't want people to think I was arrogant. So I let them make me look like I was a total p**t. "They wanted me to act like this bubbly little hyper guy and I came across as a k*******. It's my fault, it's not their fault. I should have been strong enough to say no, that's not me." Adam was convinced by his fiancee Katy Fawcett to take a second chance at music with ITV2's super-group 5th Story, which also consists of Another Level's Dane Bowers, Kavana, Blazin' Squad's Kenzie and Gareth Gates. "She talked me into doing this. I would never have done The Big Reunion on my own - the only thing that appealed to me about this was that it was in a group," he said. "I didn't enjoy it first time around and it was a wasted opportunity. Doing this now is ridiculous fun."
