Bruno Mars spices up Super Bowl

Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers turned up the heat at the Super Bowl with their half-time show.

Bruno, 28, quickly scotched any doubt that he was up to entertaining one of the world's largest audiences during the 12-minute slot with a high powered performance, holding his own alongside the wild rockers.

Bruno opened the show with his song Locked Out Of Heaven, wearing a skinny tie and gold jacket almost as dazzling as his smile. He played a deep-groove drum solo while rolling across the field on a raised, motorised platform, before joining his band for disco track Treasure.

Then the Red Hot Chili Peppers burst onto the stage, topless, to join Bruno in a rendition of their boisterous hit Give It Away.

Bruno managed not to be overpowered by the stomping rock track, before ending the set with his Grammy-winning ballad Just The Way You Are.

"There were a lot of doubters and my man delivered," Fox commentator Howie Long said after the performance.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was among the stars to praise the performance on Twitter.

He wrote: "Entrance on drums, James brown, chili peppers, I loved that whole thing. @BrunoMars #superbowl."
