Clean Bandit single holds top spot

British newcomers Clean Bandit made it a second successive week at the singles chart summit with their dance track Rather Be.

The London band's release, featuring Jess Glynne, stood firm at the top of the pile despite pressure from three high-charting new entries .

Elsewhere there was a chart appearance for The Weather Girls, whose 1984 hit It's Raining Men was adopted as an unofficial protest song following comments by a Ukip councillor about gay marriage.

David Silvester, a former Tory councillor for Henley-On-Thames, suggested that the flooding which has engulfed some parts of the UK was related to equality legislation.

It's Raining Men entered the chart at number 31 today, 29 places lower than when it made its debut three decades earlier.

Campaign organiser Darren Pop said: " I'm incredibly proud of the song getting to 31 in the charts.

"It makes me feel very humbled to be part of a community that will pull together to fight back against bigotry. It's very comforting to know that British people will always speak up and challenge comments like David Silvester made."

Clean Bandit - brothers Jack and Luke Patterson, Grace Chatto and Neil Amin-Smith - knocked Pharrell Williams's Happy off the top spot to score their first chart-topping single last week.

And they held off the challenge of Will.i.am, Gorgon City and Katy B, who all recorded new entries in the top 10.

Will.i.am's Feelin' Myself featuring Miley Cyrus, French Montana and Wiz Khalifa was this week's highest new entry, debuting at number two.

In the album charts, You Me At Six have knocked songstress Ellie Goulding off the top.

The Surrey-based band's fourth album, Cavalier Youth, outsold Goulding's Halcyon (number two) by nearly two copies to one over the last seven days to earn You Me At Six their first ever UK chart topper.
