Wanted's Sykes 'healthier' post-op

The Wanted's Nathan Sykes has revealed that his life has changed since undergoing throat surgery.

The 20-year-old singer admitted his voice has improved since he had the operation last April, and he is ready to hit the road for the group's Word Of Mouth tour.

"I'm feeling really healthy and my life has completely changed since the operation," he said.

"I've cut out fizzy drinks and replaced it with water. My diet has changed and I'm just looking after my voice really well and using it correctly."

Nathan admitted his vocal range has improved since surgery, and he is now able to hit more notes than before.

"My throat has been so much better since then. My range is improving all the time - I've gained four or five notes on each end of the register since the operation," he explained.

"Because I've had so many problems with my throat for such a long time, my voice hadn't developed as much as it probably should have done from the ages of 16 to 19. So I'm now surprising myself all the time, which is cool."

The Wanted will go their separate ways after the tour, saying they will "pursue personal endeavours" at the end of their Word Of Mouth shows, which kick off in Liverpool on March 14.

"We're looking forward to starting the tour dates. We're going to celebrate nearly five years of work as The Wanted... We'll perform songs from all the albums, Top 10 singles and a cool medley," Nathan teased.

He added: "We want to give the fans a lasting memory of us for the time being until we get back together again. We just want to give the fans the best show possible, as a thank you for everything over the years."
