NewsApril, 23 Barat teases Libertines reunionCarl Barat has revealed that The Libertines reunion is "very much a possibility". The co-frontman of the group, alongside Pete Doherty, also hinted fans should "keep the 5th of July free", suggesting that the band may be reforming on stage. Speculation was sparked over a potential reunion when Pete claimed he had been approached with an offer to get the band back together for a live show during an interview with Israeli newspaper Ynet. Carl told Gigslutz that rumours regarding the reunion are "true" and that there is "very much a possibility" that The Libertines will once again reunite. The official Libertines Facebook page has also posted a picture of London's Hyde Park, implying that the group may play there. The Libertines - who Carl and Pete formed in 1997 along with John Hassall and Gary Powell - last played live together in 2010 at the Reading and Leeds Festivals. Pete suggested that financial reasons are the driving force behind a possible reunion, saying: "Not long ago I listened to The Libertines songs on YouTube and had a burst of nostalgia so I said what the heck, and then they told me how much they will pay us and I cannot lie to you I couldn't say no, at least not in my state right now." Since The Libertines split in 2004, Carl has been focusing on his Dirty Pretty Things outfit and his new band, The Jackals. Pete has been busy with Babyshambles, as well as his other creative endeavours.
