Perry: Mayer split to inspire songs

Katy Perry has revealed that her relationship with John Mayer will be the subject of future songs.

The Dark Horse singer admitted she won't shy away from discussing their romance and subsequent split in upcoming tracks.

"There's no bad blood. But I'm sure there will be inspired songs," she told Cosmopolitan.

The 29-year-old singer, who graces the front cover of all 62 editions of the July issue as the magazine's first-ever global cover star, split from the singer-songwriter in February after dating him on and off since August 2012.

John, who has reportedly addressed some of his past relationships in his songs, revealed he is prepared for the attack.

"I have super strength for gang-ups. I'm fine," he told TMZ.

"That's what you're supposed to do, man. You're supposed to write songs. You're just not supposed to tell everybody you're doing it."

Asked if he wants his ex's songs about him to succeed, he gamely replied: "I actually want everybody's song to go to number one. I purposely stopped writing hits to give other people a chance to have number one songs. I just stand to the side."
