Dost scores song to soothe dogs

Grammy-winning musician Andrew Dost of chart band fun. has been asked to write some soothing music - for dogs.

DogTV, the two-year-old US television network for dogs, asked the pop-rock multi-instrumentalist to write some psychoacoustic music for them.

The unnamed result, nearly four minutes of harp, piano and repetitive electronic undertones, debuted on July 7 during a relaxation segment.

Dost said he loved creating sounds for a non-human audience and kept the music level and linear.

The music accompanies video recorded in Yosemite and together they are designed to reduce the stress and anxiety dogs experience when they are home alone.

Dost is the first Grammy winner to work with DogTV and he will donate all proceeds for his work to A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue, a shelter in his hometown of Detroit.
