Brooks 'would do a five-night run'

Country music superstar Garth Brooks has declared he is willing to go ahead with his comeback special in Ireland if the "powers that be" can give the go-ahead for a five night run.

In a private letter to concert promoter Peter Aiken, the US singer said his "heart is breaking" after the 400,000 people sold out extravaganza was cancelled after he was only granted permission for three out of five shows.

"Our guys are still en route and if there is any chance the five planned concerts can be salvaged and nobody is being let down then we can proceed as planned until the refunds begin," he wrote.

" If you tell me, 'Garth, thanks but it's over,' I will cease my efforts and bring our people and gear back to the States.

" If you think for any reason that the 'powers that be' in Ireland can fix this, then I will faithfully go to the last second."
