NewsJuly, 18 Knitting and olives at LatitudeFestival-goers began this year's Latitude festival with yoga classes, a knitting circle and an olive bar. About 35,000 people are expected to arrive at the arts and music event at Henham Park in Suffolk this weekend as temperatures approach 28C. Pop star Lily Allen will headline the main music stage tonight (July 18) after stepping in to replace indie band Two Door Cinema Club, who pulled out due to illness. Organiser Melvin Benn said he was delighted with the addition to the bill. He said: "After her show-stopping performance at Glastonbury, Lily was a natural choice. The Latitude audience are in for something really spectacular." Latitude is renowned as the most middle-class event on the UK festival circuit. This year it reinforced those credentials by adding morning yoga classes and an olive bar to the usual eclectic line-up of ballet, literature discussions and performances by the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other highlights of the day's line-up include Editors, Billy Bragg and Crystal Fighters. Damon Albarn will headline the festival tomorrow, with Black Keys finishing the weekend off on Sunday.
