NewsNovember, 13 X Factor to air new Band Aid songThe new Band Aid song will get its first airing on Sunday's X Factor - just a day after stars including One Direction, Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran team up to record it. Viewers will get their first glimpse of the video for the new version of Do They Know It's Christmas? on the hit ITV show, which goes out at 8pm. The single will be available to download from 8am on Monday, raising funds for the fight against the spread of the Ebola virus in west Africa. Other acts lined up to play on it include U2's Bono - who appeared on the first version in 1984 - Paloma Faith, Emeli Sande, Elbow and Bastille. Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof, who co-wrote the song with Midge Ure, said he had been inspired to re-record the track because of the "phenomenal bravery of the National Health doctors and nurses who volunteered" to help the fight against Ebola. It will be the fourth time the song has been recorded, with the most recent effort released a decade ago. After its original release - to help famine relief in Ethiopia, selling 3.7 million copies and raising £8 million - it went on to be the launchpad for Live Aid and inspired numerous musical fundraising efforts.
