Elton John has announced his Farewell Yellow Brick Road UK and Europe tour dates have been postponed until 2021. The Rocket Man hitmaker, 73, confirmed the devastating news with a lengthy Twitter statement on Tuesday. He revealed it was not an easy decision to make with it being his final tour, but he was forced to reschedule the concert due to coronavirus concerns. The singer highlighted his only priority is the safety of his crew, venue staff and dedicated fans. A statement from the official Elton John Twitter account read: "It breaks my heart that we have had to reschedule the 2020 dates we were all looking forward to so much, but my team and I have been working diligently on rescheduled plans for 2021." Dates from Saturday September 5 through to Thursday December 17 have been moved to next year. The tour will now start on Wednesday September 1, 2021 in Berlin, Germany and will play 48 shows across Europe and the UK, through December 2021. The legendary pop star thanked his fans for their patience during uncertain times and promised next year's comeback show will be better. He added: "As you can imagine, touring is a huge undertaking so we need time to sort through all the details to make sure we can visit every city and play every show we already have on sale. "Thank you for your patience even though we have been doing this." The star said he's "looking forward" to being back on stage again next year to continue with the tour. Elton wrote: "I look forward to continuing the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour next year and seeing you by my side once again, as you have been for so many years throughout my injured career. "Stay safe and healthy everyone." Fans took to Twitter to comment on the unfortunate news. One urged: "Have a break take care of your health Elton." As another disappointed Elton fan penned: "Totally expected." Elton confirmed ticket holders of the rescheduled performances will receive new event information shortly and all original tickets will be honored at the rescheduled performances.
