Lana Del Rey 'doesn't understand' how her music gets leaked

Lana Del Rey "doesn't understand" how her music gets leaked when she takes so many precautions to stop them.

Some of the Video Games singer's unreleased music was leaked in October 2022, months after devices containing her new music and a book manuscript were stolen from a backpack in her parked car in Los Angeles.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lana admitted that she is baffled by the leaks because she is so careful about protecting her new material.

"My records get (leaked) five months before they come out. They have for 11 years," she stated. "I really don't understand. I've gone to every great length to double check everything, but the songs come out. Even if I don't (digitally) have them. I don't like it. This is a lot of work. You want things to go well for the album."

At the time, Lana, real name Elizabeth Grant, asked her fans not to listen to any leaked music because the songs weren't supposed to be out yet. Five months after the leak, the 38-year-old released Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.

It marked her fourth album in the space of four years following Norman F**king Rockwell!, Chemtrails over the Country Club, and Blue Banisters. Addressing the rapid succession of her albums, she explained to the publication that she is relentlessly inspired to create new music.

"Music is kind of like a little blackbird on my shoulder, always pecking at me - even when I'm not interested in making music. And I really am genuinely interested in doing other things. Music is just relentless," she shared.
