Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty 'strongly denounce' Israel-Hamas war

Selena Gomez's makeup brand Rare Beauty has officially denounced the Israel-Hamas war.

Rare Beauty released a statement via their official Instagram account on Monday, which spoke out against the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

"We are devastated by the images & reports coming from the Middle East," the statement began. "Thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes & millions of civilians have been displaced & left without access to food, water, medicine, or basic necessities for survival. A large number of these victims are children."

After asserting that "Palestinian civilians must be protected, period," the statement also acknowledged the Israeli victims of a Hamas attack carried out last month.

"We remain heartbroken by the horrible terror attack against innocent civilians in Israel on October 7th, many of them also children. There is no situation where attacks on civilians are acceptable," it stated. "We strongly denounce any & all forms of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia."

The militant group Hamas attacked Israel on Saturday 7 October. At 6:30am local time, the group launched a rocket attack followed by an on-the-ground invasion attacking an electronic music festival as well as civilian streets and homes.

Israel has since retaliated by killing approximately 10,000 Palestinians, including around 4,000 children. An international charity recently warned The Guardian that more than half a million people in northern Gaza face starvation as food supplies run "perilously" low.

"We urge everyone to support humanitarian organizations working tirelessly to provide aid & relief to those in need. Every bit of help can make a difference," Rare Beauty continued. "Rare Beauty will be making donations to the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies - Magen David Adom, & Palestinian Red Crescent Society - who are providing urgent care on the ground. We will also be donating to UNICEF to help get urgent medical relief & resources to the children of Gaza."

Rare Beauty's statement followed soon after Selena received backlash for stating that her social media post's couldn't make a difference regarding the ongoing conflict. She has since shared that she will be "taking a break" from social media.
