Jessica Simpson's husband Eric Johnson has been spotted without his wedding ring amid growing speculation of a marriage split.

The couple - who share children Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5 - have been married for 10 years.

While her sister Ashlee Simpson recently claimed that there was no truth to the rumours the Irresistible singer and former NFL player were getting a divorce, Johnson has continued to fuel the flames.

In photos published by TMZ, he was seen spending time with his parents in Los Angeles with his ringless left hand swinging by his side.

Speculation that the pair are headed for a split started after Simpson too was seen out and about without her wedding ring, and the ring has also been missing in her recent social media posts.

Simpson made a cryptic comment on an Instagram pic earlier this week when she shared news of her most recent musical endeavours.

"Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic," she captioned the post.

"This comeback is personal, it's an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve."

Simpson and Johnson tied the knot in July 2014 after four years of dating.
