Rod Stewart admits 2025 Glastonbury performance will cost him 'a fortune'

Rod Stewart has admitted that his recently announced Glastonbury set will cost him "a fortune".

It was confirmed on Tuesday that Stewart will perform at next year's edition of the legendary British festival.

The music icon will play the Legends slot on the famed Pyramid Stage on 29 June, following in the footsteps of previous Legends performers such as Diana Ross, Dolly Parton and Shania Twain.

During an appearance on talkSPORT Breakfast on Wednesday, the Downtown Train hitmaker said it was a "great honour" to land the gig.

However, Stewart explained that the opportunity is "going to cost me a fortune to do it - $300,0000 (£236,832)."

"I've got to bring all my band back from America, of course Glastonbury don't pay for that." the musician continued. "But I don't care if it cost me $1million (£789,440), I would have done it."

Stewart returns to the festival more than 20 years after headlining alongside Stereophonics and Coldplay in 2002.

Taking to X on Tuesday, the Maggie May singer revealed he was "absolutely thrilled" to be playing the annual festival again.

"After all these years, I'm proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June," the 79-year-old wrote. "I'll see you there!"
