NewsDecember, 2 Blur's Alex James 'delighted' with Oasis reunionBlur's bassist Alex James can't wait to see Oasis reunite next year - as his rival band got their Wembley gigs out of the way first. In the 1990s Blur and Oasis had a rivalry that was at the heart of Britpop, culminating in a famous 1996 battle for number one that resulted in barbs being thrown in the press. However, over the years the two groups have mellowed towards each other, with Blur frontman Damon Alburn and Noel Gallagher even working together on a Gorillaz song. Alex has now said he can't wait for the Oasis reunion gigs in 2025 - as Blur got their performances at Wembley in first in 2024. "I'm so happy for them," he tells The Observer, referring to Oasis' reunion. "Delighted. They're great. I like them." Praising Liam and Noel, he adds: "You know, there's some people - mentioning no names - that when they walk in a room, you're like: 'Oh, f**king hell, he's here.' But when either of them walk into a room, it's like: 'Heyyy.' He's an incredible singer, Liam, and he can't help being a rock star." Unable to resist a good natured dig, he continues: "And it's nice that they waited till we got our s**t out the way, you know? That's very good manners."
