NewsOctober, 30 Felony charge dropped against Rick Ross in abuse case
Florida prosecutors have dropped a felony count against Rick Ross in his domestic violence case. New court documents obtained by TMZ.com show that two misdemeanor charges have now been filed against the 50-year-old: one for battery and one for battery/domestic violence. The felony battery charge was dismissed because there was not enough evidence to support it. The rapper, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, was arrested on 1 October on felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery before that charge was dropped. He has entered a not guilty plea to the charges that remain. An arrest report states that Ross was accused of beating, strangling and slamming his girlfriend at his Miami home after asking her whether she had lied to him. His lawyers, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenste, say an ex-girlfriend is "wrongfully accusing" him. In their words: "Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges. He respectfully requests that his friends, fans and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course."
