NewsOctober, 19 Selena Gomez says vaping changed her voice
Selena Gomez has said that vaping nicotine "a lot" has "changed" her voice. The singer and actress made the admission in a candid video shared to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, explaining that the habit has affected how she sounds. "I'm not gonna be able to change my voice. I vaped nicotine a lot, and just so everyone knows that's somewhat vaped," she said. "Nicotine is so hard to quit." She then encouraged her followers to steer clear of vaping and cigarettes where possible. "I think I just wanted to say if you're going through it, or if you're even trying to vape, it's just not worth it. It's so stupid," the Only Murders in the Building star went on. "It's changed my voice. So, if you guys don't like listening to my voice, that's totally understandable. I don't mind. Just don't listen to it." Wrapping up, Gomez shared that she had given up vaping not long ago. "I am really excited because I stopped, and I just hope I can keep it up. It's really hard," she added. The subject had come up before: last December, during a Q&A on Instagram Live, fans asked her about what seemed to be changes in her voice. "I've gotten this question a few times. The voice thing," the 34-year-old said at the time. "Sometimes things happen. I get weird. My throat kind of swells inside sometimes. That's all." Her most recent album, I Said I Love You First, arrived in March 2025 and was a collaboration with her husband, producer Benny Blanco.
