NewsOctober, 17 Carly Rae Jepsen Saved Cole M.G.N. as Cole I Love You
Carly Rae Jepsen has shared the story of how she saved Cole M.G.N. in her phone after they met for the first time in a songwriting session. The Call Me Maybe singer met the producer and songwriter while working on her new album, Day and Night. They married in October 2025 and welcomed their first child earlier this year. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Carly explained that she saved Cole in her phone after they wrote No Labels, I Love You together in that first session. "I wrote (that song) with my husband, who I didn't know was going to be my husband when I met him. But that was our first session together and it took a very long time to figure out how that song landed," she said. "It's actually funny because on the drive home from that song (session), I was plugging his name in (to my phone), as you do from a session, (being) like, 'Who did I work with today?' And his name's Cole and I was driving so I didn't want to text for very long and the song's called No Labels, I Love You, so I wrote (in my phone) 'Cole I Love You.' And I still have him saved that way today. All because of that song." No Labels, I Love You was one of the first songs Carly and Cole wrote for her new double album Day and Night. Cole, whose full name is Cole Marsden Greif-Neill, went on to co-write and co-produce several other tracks on the record, which came out last month. The I Really Like You hitmaker described the album as a "beautiful timestamp of my life" and likened it to a snapshot, but with music instead of pictures. "I didn't know all the things that were going to happen in my personal life were on the way, but those things were brewing and bubbling for sure," she added. "I think you can feel the excitement and the anticipation in the album." Carly announced the birth of their son Ilya in March.
