Giggs Reveals Unusual Origin of Talking the Hardest

Giggs dropped by the Capital XTRA Breakfast show, where hosts Shayna Marie and Robert Bruce got him talking about his career and a big December date at London’s OVO Arena Wembley. While on air, the Peckham rapper explained how his well-known track Talking the Hardest came together – and the story is not the usual studio tale.

As Giggs told it, he was living with ML’s mum at the time and admits he was “moving mad,” with affairs going on. He said he wasn’t ready to grow up, describing himself as a good dad who was still outside – “young, gangster” – and he wrote Talking the Hardest while walking to another woman’s house.

The track, he added, was put together in two places. One half came together at ML’s mum’s house, the home he shared with her, and the other half was written on foot.

The conversation took a lighter turn when Shayna Marie asked what tends to fill his social media feed. Giggs laughed about his Instagram Explore page, joking that as a man he gets “baddies” recommended to him and insisting it isn’t his fault that they show up there.

Giggs is still counted among British hip-hop’s most influential names, and Talking the Hardest is often treated as a landmark record in UK rap. His headline show at the OVO Arena Wembley in December is a notable step for the veteran artist, who will bring a long list of fan favourites to one of London’s biggest indoor venues.
