Taylor Swift sparks stream of donations to two-year-old cancer patient

The family of a two-year-old girl named Lilah, who is battling cancer, have spoken out about the effects of a generous donation from Taylor Swift.

The girl's mother Katelynn Smoot talked to TMZ about the Karma singer's $100,000 (£74,700) donation to a GoFundMe set up for the toddler.

"We had had no communication with Taylor Swift or her team before or after," she shared.

"It was like a very silent, 'Let me just drop this here' - and bless our lives!"

Smoot continued, "The donation, we just stumbled upon it because my husband decided to refresh the GoFundMe page and just saw it. I don't even know - it's just such a shock.

"I posted a video thanking her because I felt like I had to say something about it. It's just such a large sum. I couldn't just let it sit there."

Smoot said that after she made her gratitude for Swift public, the Grammy-winner's legion of fans began flooding the GoFundMe with more donations.

Lilah is battling a very rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, according to the GoFundMe page set up for her.

The total raised currently sits at $325,996 (£243,449).
