Hilary Duff responds to speculation her song Mature is about Leonardo DiCaprio

Hilary Duff has addressed speculation that her comeback single is about Leonardo DiCaprio.

Following a decade-long break from the music industry, the actress-singer dropped a new track titled Mature earlier this month.

In the lyrics, Hilary references her regret over dating an older man in the past, with some fans particularly intrigued by the line, "Very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch."

During a recent call for On Air with Ryan Seacrest, the Younger star admitted she is enjoying seeing content creators and Internet sleuths dissect Mature.

"First of all, we're getting the biggest kick out of the speculations," she stated. "It's honestly, it's thrilling. It's 100 per cent thrilling and the Internet is such a funny place. I'm obsessed with everyone and I'm seeing all the videos."

Additionally, Hilary went on to note that fans shouldn't read anything into what her husband, Matthew Koma, posts online.

The music producer caused the speculation to deepen shortly after the track was released by reposting a meme of Leonardo in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic holding the Mature cover artwork.

"No, you can't take anything that Matthew posts seriously. He's the biggest troll on the planet Earth," the 38-year-old continued. "He will lead everybody down all the roads and have the most fun doing it."

But despite the interest in the topic, Hilary declined to share who Mature is really about.

"So, not confirming, not denying anything here," she added.

And in a separate interview for Vogue, the Come Clean hitmaker revealed Mature was inspired by a "brief experience" that occurred a "long time ago".

"But it is not totally autobiographical. I took a few artistic liberties just to make the song work structurally, but the gist is the gist. I was looking back on this relationship and thinking about whether this guy had a habit of dating younger women or whether I was 'special.' The whole experience was super therapeutic to write about, but being so vulnerable through your music can be really scary," the mother-of-four shared.

Hilary and Matthew, who wed in 2019, share three daughters. The Sparks star also has a teenage son from her first marriage to Mike Comrie.

Hilary is set to release her sixth studio album, Luck... or Something, on 20 February 2026.
