NewsApril, 17 Charli XCX explains why she won't go by her real name
Charli XCX has told why she won't go by her real name. The 360 singer has revealed she won't even change her stage name for her upcoming acting roles. "I spoke to a couple of people about whether I should change that," Charli, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, said in an interview with British Vogue. "I'm on the fence about it. Charli Aitchison is not super-popping though." She added, "Oh, I'm never gonna be Charlotte. Come on." The 33-year-old is due to star in four movies this year: Gregg Araki's I Want Your Sex, A24's mockumentary The Moment, Pete Oh's Erupcja and a remake of the 1978 horror film Faces of Death. She admitted she was extremely nervous about making the move from singing to acting. "I went feeling so like, 'What the f**k am I doing here?'" she said. "I was like, 'Okay, let me just see how this makes me feel.' And it made me feel really amazing." She added, "It can be scary to leave something behind that you're known for, then risk it all trying to do something else. I feel so lucky to be on set with so many actors and directors I admire. I have a hunger to learn and understand how other people do it. I don't think I've ever felt like, 'Wow, I killed that.' I feel ready to do it 1000 times if necessary."
