Duffy takes to stage for first time in 16 years at top-secret London concert

Duffy made her stage comeback after 16 years out of the spotlight on Sunday night.

The Mercy singer, real name Aimée Anne Duffy, announced last month that she would play an intimate gig at a top-secret London venue on 5 July, marking her return to the stage after her 2010 rape and kidnap ordeal.

The Welsh musician was photographed by paparazzi entering Hoxton Hall via the rear entrance on Sunday. Photos published by The Sun and Mail Online on Monday showed her being flanked by a bodyguard as she left her car and went inside the venue, wearing a black full-length dress.

Audience members were chosen via a ballot system and required to sign a non-disclosure agreement before being allowed into the venue.

The agreement reportedly banned them from sharing any details about the event or posting photos or videos online, so her set list is currently unknown.

The top-secret gig comes months after Duffy announced she was working on a feature-length Disney+ documentary. The film will explore her rise to fame, as well as her disappearance from the spotlight after her rape ordeal in 2010.

The 42-year-old went public with her story in 2020, revealing in a lengthy online essay that she was kidnapped, drugged, raped and held hostage for four weeks.

In addition to the documentary, the Warwick Avenue singer is also working on new music.

In May, she posted a photo of herself in the recording studio on Instagram and wrote, "If only I could find the right words to explain how much I've missed you all. Working on coming back to you."

When she announced the one-off concert, she teased that she "will sing some new songs".
