L7 to tour without cancer-struck bassist Jennifer Finch

Jennifer Finch will not be joining L7 on the autumn leg of their Last Hurrah farewell tour.

The founding bassist has been diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.

L7 singer-guitarist Donita Sparks shared in a statement yesterday, "We are all devastated by the news and are surrounding her with love, protecting her privacy and dignity, while helping raise the resources she urgently needs for the care ahead. Jennifer is family, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years."

A GoFundMe has been launched to help Finch with in-home nursing care, physical and speech therapy, medical equipment, and other essentials.

The band will, however, proceed with their North America tour, with Finch's blessing.

The 22-date trek kicks off on 9 October in Phoenix, and runs through to a 14 November show in Los Angeles.

The all-female American rock band, known for their blend of punk, metal and grunge, consists of Finch, Sparks, Suzi Gardner and Dee Plakas on drums.

Their signature hit, Pretend We're Dead, became an alternative rock anthem.

After an indefinite hiatus starting in 2001, the original lineup reunited in 2014 and continued touring. They last toured the UK in June 2024.
