Chipmunk: Fish counter hat not cool

Chipmunk has revealed he turned down a job on the fish counter at Sainsbury's when he was 16 because he didn't like the hat.

The Diamond Rings rapper is among the acts performing at Sainsbury's Super Saturday - a family-friendly event taking place on Clapham Common on the September 10 in support of the London 2012 Paralympic Games - but revealed at the launch that he once turned down a job at the Haringey branch of the supermarket.

Chipmunk, 20, said: "I was sixteen, my brother was working in Sainsbury's, I had good grades so my CV was nice. I handed my CV in and they offered me a job in the fish department. I just remember when we used to go into Sainsbury's, we always walked past the fish dept and thought... I don't want to wear that hat!"

The rapper will perform along with Taio Cruz and The Saturdays, and other acts to be announced, at the event to help mark the countdown to the Paralympic Games, where the crowds will also be able to try out paraylmpic sports.

Chipmunk helped launch the event at Sainsbury's in Pimlico.

He said: "I hope everyone rushes out to get tickets on the 20th May."

Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, said: "The fact that we are able to mix popular, talented artists alongside Paralympic sport displays and interactive activities is just a fantastic way to engage with new audiences."

Tickets go on sale on May 20 at www.ticketmaster.co.uk/supersaturday.
