NewsNovember, 25 Glitter's foreign travel ban liftedGary Glitter's foreign travel ban has been lifted, according to sources. The former 1970s glam-rock star, whose real name is Paul Gadd, signed the sex offenders register when he returned to the UK in 2008 after being jailed for child sex offences in Vietnam. He had previously been jailed for four months in the UK in 1999 for downloading child porn. But the Metropolitan Police have decided not to seek to renew the now-expired order which stopped him from travelling abroad as they have no grounds to do so, it is understood. Those on the sex offenders register are required by law to notify police of any plans to travel abroad and police can apply for a foreign travel order if they believe an individual continues to pose a danger to children. If any new information about Glitter comes to light, the police are likely to reconsider their decision not to reapply for a travel ban on him.
