Noel Gallagher makes Man Utd jibe

Noel Gallagher has marked Manchester United's Premier League defeat by Everton with a song for their arch rivals as he wowed the crowd in Belfast.

The avid Manchester City fan dedicated one of his hits to the champions as he delighted fans at the Belsonic music festival in the city centre.

Oasis anthems such as Supersonic received the warmest applause as Gallagher and his High Flying Birds put their Manchester stamp on the evening.

He recently had another public quarrel with his brother Liam after Liam sang Wonderwall at the Olympics closing ceremony with his new band Beady Eye.

Noel later took a swipe at Beady Eye's performance, dedicating his own performance of Wonderwall to "Stratford's finest Oasis tribute band" in a recent gig.

Oasis split up three years ago after an argument between the brothers backstage at a concert in Paris. Noel Gallagher wrote Oasis hits including chart-toppers Don't Look Back In Anger, Some Might Say and Go Let It Out.

He launched his solo career fronting the High Flying Birds in 2011. His debut solo album made it to number one in the album chart.

He was honoured with a special prize at the NME awards this year recognising his musical "genius".

Belsonic has taken place at Custom House Square in Belfast city centre since 2008.

This year it is being run over 10 days and features an eclectic mix of performers including Emeli Sande, Madness, Tom Jones and James Morrison.
