1D want to sell songs in space

One Direction have jokingly revealed that they want to sell their records in space.

The boyband have achieved global success since appearing on The X Factor in 2010, but it seems they won't be completely satisfied until they can get aliens to pick up their records.

According to The Sun, the What Makes You Beautiful singers think it might even be an "obtainable" goal.

Niall Horan said: "I think our goal for 10 years down the line should be to sell a single in outer space and be the first band to do so. I want aliens to buy our music. It is worth a shot and is obtainable."

Louis Tomlinson added: "We should speak to that band 30 Seconds To Mars - they could probably help us."

The band - which also includes Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Harry Styles - may want to speak to fellow chart star Will.i.am, as last month he premiered his new single from Mars.

The Nasa rover Curiosity beamed to Earth the Black Eyed Peas singer's new song Reach For The Stars, in the first music broadcast from another planet, to the delight of students who gathered at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, to listen.

In 2008 Nasa beamed The Beatles' Across The Universe into the cosmos to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the song.
