Nash: I want more gritty pop music

Kate Nash has taken a pop at pop music, calling it too "safe".

The Brit-winning singer, who has released her third album Girl Talk, admitted that the music industry could do with a bit of a shake-up.

The 25-year-old told the Daily Star: "It's inundated with very safe stuff - almost like a big sausage factory where everyone's churning it out. People want stars but it doesn't matter what they're doing as long as they're famous."

Kate, who had a hit with Foundations in 2007 and won best female artist at the 2008 Brits, added: "I'd like to see more room in the mainstream for stuff that's gritty and real."
