NewsMarch, 14 Pet Shop Boys sign for new labelPet Shop Boys have left their record company Parlophone after nearly three decades, to sign with a newly-established label. The departure comes just a month after it was announced Parlophone was being sold to Warner Music, following many years of being part of EMI. The chart veterans - whose hits have included West End Girls and It's A Sin, and have sold more than 50 million records - will release a new album called Electric in June. It will come out through Kobalt Music Services, a new wing of the Kobalt Music Group which has become a growing force in music publishing over the past decade. The new arm of the company issued its first international album last month with the latest release by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Push The Sky Away. Pet Shop Boys released their first single on Parlophone 28 years ago. In a statement the group's Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe said: "This is a very exciting point in our careers. "We'd like to thank everyone we've worked with at Parlophone over the last 28 years both in the UK and abroad. When we signed to the label in 1985 we had no idea how long and successful a relationship we were embarking on. However it is also exciting now to commence a new phase working with a new team in a new business structure and we look forward to a creative and equally fulfilling relationship with Kobalt." Parlophone's president of A&R Miles Leonard said: "Few can say they have worked with any artist for 28 years, but Parlophone have and we are very proud of that. "We have been fortunate enough to have been partners in one of the most successful careers in pop culture. Neil and Chris to this day influence so many with their incredible songwriting and music. We wish them every success in the future and look forward to continuing our relationship with them across their entire and enviable catalogue."
