NewsMarch, 4 Mariah Carey promises 'raw ballads'Mariah Carey has revealed that there will be more "raw ballads" on her new album. The Grammy-winning songstress, who released a single Almost Home for Oz The Great And Powerful soundtrack, said fans may be pleasantly surprised with some of the tracks from the new as-yet-untitled album. "There are a lot more raw ballads than people might expect. Wherever we go with this project, I've tried to keep the soul and heart in it, with me obviously as the through-line. I really want the fans to love this record," she told Billboard.com. The 42-year-old has been balancing work on her 14th album in between her American Idol job and being a mother to twins Moroccan and Monroe, as well as being a wife to comedian Nick Cannon. "It's a lot to juggle, but I'm handling it. It's about making sure I have tons of good music, because at the end of the day, that's the most important thing," she said. "I was and still am in a very prolific space. I could say, 'Let's stop now.' But that's not who I am, and that's not what I want this record to be." The album, which will feature production from Hit-Boy, The-Dream and Rodney Jerkins, is expected for release in the summer.
