NewsMay, 2 Stars to sing at Palace festivalTop musicians including Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson, Katie Melua and The Feeling will perform at a festival in Buckingham Palace gardens this summer. The event, to mark the Queen's coronation, will also feature students from the Sylvia Young Theatre School, opera singers from the Dame Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation, members of the National Youth Orchestra and Welsh choir Only Boys Aloud, who will perform on three consecutive nights in July. The Fanfare Trumpeters from the Household Division will open the shows, while a series of scenes will celebrate the music of the Commonwealth and reflect Britain's leading role in pop music since the 1960s. Also taking to the stage will be the English National Ballet, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures dance company and East London Dance. The gala concerts form part of the Coronation Festival and will be staged in the grounds of the palace for an audience of 6,000 guests each evening. They will also be broadcast on TV and radio. Tickets for the evenings have sold out but are available for the day events, at which visitors will be able to explore the gardens where there will be shopping opportunities, live cooking demonstrations and a 400-seat catwalk. The festival will be open to members of the public from July 12 to 14 while there will be a preview on July 11 for invited guests including members of the Royal Family, charities, members of the Armed Forces and guests of the Royal Warrant Holders Association.
