Caro Emerald tops album charts

Dutch jazz and pop singer Caro Emerald has gone straight to number one with her second album, The Shocking Miss Emerald.

East London drum and bass band Rudimental were knocked from the top spot to number two.

Caro's first album, Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room, remains in the charts at number 40.

Another new entry for the actor and comedian Hugh Laurie went straight in at number three, with his Didn't It Rain.

These three held off Canadian crooner Michael Buble's former number one album To Be Loved, which is this week's fourth best-selling entry, according to the Official UK Charts Company.

There were new entries in the album chart with Lady Antebellum's Golden at number seven, Heart Of Nowhere by Noah And The Whale at number 13, and Savages' Silence Yourself sneaking in the top 20 at number 19.

In the singles chart, electronic duo Daft Punk, featuring Pharrell Williams and Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers, held on to the number one spot.

Chris Malinchak went straight in at number two with So Good To Me, with Let Her Go by Passenger rising from number four last week to number three.

Another new entry from Armin Van Buuren featuring T Guthrie, This Is What It Feels Like, reached number six, and the next highest new entry was Gabrielle Aplin with Panic Cord.

Pompeii by Bastille rose two places in the single chart from 15 to 13, while Gentleman by South Korean singer Psy fell to 24 from 18. American rockers Goo Goo Dolls saw their single Iris fall 25 places from number 12 to number 37.
