Torres: We support bandmate Sambora

Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres has revealed that Richie Sambora's absence from their Hyde Park show is because of "personal problems", not an alleged feud with Jon Bon Jovi.

There were rumours that there was tension between the group's frontman Jon and the guitarist, but Tico laughed the stories off, before the band take to the stage to open the British Summer Time festival.

"I think it's personal problems. People are allowed to take care of things in their lives," he said as he launched his Rock Star Baby collection in London.

Tico revealed Richie - who has had substance troubles in the past - could rejoin the group for the later dates in their Because We Can tour. Phil X steps in for now.

"I think it's important to give that support," he continued.

"We've been doing quite a few shows without him. It's not the same but I don't think the fans will be lacking. Of course we miss Richie and his voice, but I think we still put on a great show even though he's not going to be with us."

The 59-year-old is thrilled to return to Hyde Park: "It's the end of our European leg and Hyde Park's always a good place to finish. The weather's going to be spectacular so it will be fun. We put on a helluva show."

Tico said they will do a three-hour set, which will include oldies such as Livin' On A Prayer and Keep The Faith as well as newer music.

"It's going to be everything, 30 years of Bon Jovi. I hate when a band just plays their new stuff, and doesn't touch on their old stuff," he said.

"There's no better energy in the world than to see a million people singing Livin' On A Prayer."
