Mr Probz makes waves on UK chart

Dutch star Mr Probz has made sure his country continues to make waves on these shores by going straight in at number one in the singles chart.

The 29-year-old rapper-turned-singer followed fellow countrymen Bingo Players, Martin Garrix and Nicky Romero, who have all scored chart-toppers in the UK over the last year, with hit single Waves.

The track, originally released in November, has shifted almost 127,000 copies in the UK this week and also crashed into the top 10 in Belgium, France and the Netherlands following a house remix by German DJ Robin Schulz.

Commenting on the rise to the top of his first release in Britain, Mr Probz said: "Wow, number one in the UK. It happened so fast.

"I can't go on Twitter and thank everyone personally, so right now I want to say thanks to everybody that's supported the single, everybody who bought it, and made sure it keeps creating waves."

Mr Probz beat last week's champion single, Hideaway by Kiesza, down into number two, while Sigma also slipped a place to number three with Nobody To Love.

This week's top five was completed by John Legend's All Of Me, which remained at number four, and Cash Cash went straight in at number five with Take Me Home Ft Bebe Rexha.

Meanwhile in the albums list, Scottish singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini spent a second week at the summit with Caustic Love.

It is the 27-year-old's second chart-topper, after 2009's Sunny Side Up, and has become the fastest-selling artist album of 2014 so far, with 162,000 copies snapped up over the last 14 days.

John Legend's Love In The Future climbed two positions to number two, its highest place to date.

The Vamps slid down one place to number three with debut album Meet The Vamps, while Paloma Faith was also down one spot to number four with her third album, A Perfect Contradiction.

And Australian hip hop artist Iggy Azalea put the finishing touches to the top five with this week's highest new entry, debut album The New Classic.
