Robbie: Am I entertaining you?

Robbie Williams has confessed he was scared the audience weren't enjoying his performance on his new tour.

The Let Me Entertain You singer is famous for his swagger and confidence, but his current Swings Both Ways tour of Europe sees him performing his latest swing album on a stripped-back set, to a seated audience.

Robbie, 40, revealed on his blog: "The Swings Both Ways tour is a different animal than anything that I've done before... Therefore the audience is different than anything I've had before...

"This has proven to be exhilarating, terrifying and gratifying in equal measure.

"At the start of the tour I thought people weren't enjoying it... But such is the distorted view of me, mine and what I have to offer."

The Angels singer - whose wife Ayda Field is expecting their second child, a sibling for 20-month-old daughter Teddy - admitted performing in front of the wealthy audience of Monaco had proven "the hardest work".

He wrote: "I had no showbiz tricks, no massive rotating heads that spit fire, no hundred-foot me, no dancers, no costume changes. Just me, my band, a square stage and an audience. An audience sitting in rows of seats... Looked like they'd come to view a film, rather than participate in the vibe and emotion of a live show."

But he added that his hard work had paid off and the show was "very special to me".

Robbie added: "With a little bit of elbow grease and determination Monaco became the hardest work and most rewarding show of this tour."

And despite his current tour continuing until September, Robbie is already thinking about the next one.

He said: "I'm enjoying myself so much I just want to be able to do it again (on this scale) somewhere down the line."
