Charli XCX: I don't want to be a role model

Charli XCX thinks "being a b***h is the best".

The 22-year-old singer has urged her fans not to consider her a role model, because it's inevitable she'll make mistakes as her career progresses.

She told Australia's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "My whole genre is b***h-pop. Being a b***h is the best.

"Even though I probably am [a role model], because certain people look up to me, that's never been an aim of mine.

"But I understand that's a responsibility that comes with the territory, even if you don't ask for it.

"I'm OK with that, as long as they know I'm definitely gonna make some mistakes along the way."

And Charli knows she can cause herself problems because of her outspoken nature.

She said: "I'm always true to myself in everything I do, so I've tried to base my career on not filtering myself - I find that boring.

"I don't think people want a puppet, I think they want something real.

"So I always try to say what's on my mind.

"Sometimes that gets me into a lot of trouble but, you know, c'est la vie!"

The 'Boom Clap' hitmaker is very confident in herself and doesn't care about other people's opinions.

She said: "Towards the end of 2013, I began to take this stance where I really didn't care what people thought of me.

"I used to say that a lot when I was younger, but I did [actually care], and I began to feel really insecure and intimidated by people.

"But that's changed now; I genuinely feel very happy with myself and confident in the way I am as a person.

"I'm also willing to accept that not everybody will like that, but that doesn't really bother me."
