Jesy Nelson's Little Mix bandmates pay tribute to unwell star as she misses hosting gigs due to illness

Jesy Nelson's Little Mix bandmates have paid tribute to her after she missed one of the most important weekends of their career.

The 28 year old failed to show up to the live final of their talent show Little Mix The Search on Saturday night due to illness.

It was also confirmed that she would not be appearing at the MTV EMAs, where the band were hosting, performing and nominated for four gongs.

Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock were left to carry out duties as a trio, with all three of them getting teary eyed on Saturday as Since September were crowned winners of their show.

Following a performance of their new single Sweet Melody on the EMAs, the band went on to pick up two awards; for Best Pop and Best UK & Ireland Act.

Although they happily celebrated their victories, the girls each took to social media to pay tribute to their unwell bandmate who was unable to appear.

Posting an image of the Shout Out To My Ex hitmakers holding their two awards, Perrie wrote to her 11million Instagram followers: "What a DREAM come TRUE. To our amazing fans THANK YOU. Thank you for EVERYTHING you do. We hosted, performed and won TWO AWARDS all thanks to you.

"Wish our girl Jesy coulda been there! Thanks @mtvema for having us!"

Jade wrote to her own 6.9million followers on the platform: "Years ago we dreamed of even being invited to the @mtv EMAs.

"Tonight we hosted the show, performed and won 2 awards, the only thing missing was our Jesy.

"Thank you so much to all of our fans who voted and to @mtvema for having us."

Leigh-Anne posted to her six million followers: "Hol up?? Did someone say two EMA awards?

"I can't believe we hosted, performed and then to top it all off you guys won us TWO EMA's! Where would we be without our mixers????

"You guys are truly the best fans anyone could ever ask for! We just so wish Jesy could have been there too! Thank you so much @mtvema for having us."

Worried fans of the chart-topping girl group rushed to social media over the weekend to express their concern for Jesy.

"Get well soon jesy, we love you and support you, your health comes first. Can't wait to see you again [sic]," one fan wrote on Twitter.

A second added: "As much as we want to see her in the show and MTV, her health is the top priority. Get well soon my bibi [sic]."

Whilst a third chimed: "I just slept and woke up with the news about jesy, and im really worried that I am about to cry. now all we need to do is stream support @LittleMix as much as we could do and let's pray for jesy nelson. get well jesy, we love you so much [sic]."
